Pre-construction

F&H Construction’s approach to construction is constructability all begins by collaborating with you and establishing the roles and responsibilities for all team members involved in the project.

We conduct intensive reviews of the design documents, as they are developed to minimize construction problems and potential delays. Our team also provides recommendations for the feasibility and availability of materials and labor forces based on current market conditions.

The pre-construction services focus on providing all estimating, value engineering and scheduling requirements for a given project. By combining data from our comprehensive cost record database with valuable subcontractor input, we can provide our clients with the accurate estimates and in-depth scheduling detail necessary to coordinate and deliver a project on time and on budget. Establish milestone dates, important decision points and project approach Prepare a draft schedule incorporating the owner's goals with the anticipated construction activities and entitlement process.

Bid Administration

  • Estimate the probable construction cost for each bid package
  • Review construction documents for all constructability concerns
  • Analyze and define contract packages to generate maximum competition from pre-selected subcontractors
  • Analyze and define contract packages to generate maximum competition from pre-selected subcontractors
  • Prepare the bid list for the architect and owner's review and approval for each trade, prior to issuing work for bid
  • Prepare the bid list for the architect and owner's review and approval for each trade, prior to issuing work for bid

Select only the most qualified four to five subcontractors to bid each trade. We limit the amount of subcontractors to find the most efficient subcontractor for the job Review proposals submitted by selected subcontractors of all trades

Construction

This traditional approach to construction involves the assembly of F&H Construction and a professional team of selected consultants, subcontractors and material suppliers working under the direction of our project managers and superintendents. We have the capability of performing concrete forming and placement, form, place and erection tilt-up wall panels and rough and finish carpentry using our own personnel. For projects that require this approach to construction, F&H Construction is a proven leader.

Construction Management

Our project management philosophy is to determine the appropriate construction methods and schedule all required construction activities in logical, discrete steps, each leading to an intermediate objective. We estimate the time required to complete each step in an effort to meet established budgets and deadlines for each construction project. Construction managers assigned to each project to determine the labor requirements and direct construction supervisors and monitor the progress of construction activities including the delivery and use of supplies, tools, machinery, equipment, and vehicles. They are responsible for all necessary permits and licenses and, depending upon the contractual arrangements, direct or monitor compliance with safety codes and other labor or union regulations. Planning, often in collaboration with engineers, architects, and other design professionals, may require sophisticated analytical techniques such as the critical path method (CPM) -- a standardized presentation of the time sequence of the work showing where construction activities might be disrupted -- supplemented by flow charts, bar charts, and other graphic presentation. Computers are used to evaluate various construction methods and determine the most cost-efficient and timesaving plan.

Based upon direct observation and reports by subordinate superintendents, project engineer’s project managers may prepare daily reports of progress and requirements for labor, material, and machinery and equipment at the construction site. Construction managers meet regularly with owners, other construction managers, and design professions to monitor and synchronize all phases of the construction project.
